Goodbye 2009

I feel like I always tell you that I love my clients...but I really do. I just put together a grid of all of my 2009 weddings and I was smiling extra wide:) I can't believe that another season has passed me by and I feel so lucky to have shared in all of the weddings that I did this season. I shot 22 weddings in 2009 and this year we are only taking 15 wedding commissions—and we are BOOKED! I am honestly humbled by all of you that invite me to share in your most special day and who always recommend me to your friends and family—really, I am truly honored. Thank you to all of my amazing 2009 clients (portrait ones too), you made this another amazing year for me:)

I am just wishing all of you an amazing holiday and a happy new year! The studio will be closed from today, December 24th, through January 3rd. I will return all phone calls after January 3rd and will have some email correspondence but it may be slow over the holiday week. I hope you all find time to relax over the holiday and rejuvenate for next year with your family and friends around you—I know I will:)

Here is the front of my holiday card that I sent out to my clients this week (okay, okay, I'm a little last minute). All of these photos were taken in photobooths at our 2009 weddings. I really do hope all of your days are merry and bright:)

Lynn & Rob :: Married

Lynn and Rob were my first snowy wedding that I have ever shot and I loved it! We got the snow a bit late, but I had to go out and have a little bit of fun with it and Lynn and Rob were totally game to endure the freezing cold for a minute—wait, have I mentioned lately that I love my clients?!?! Anyway, these two were so amazing and the weather didn't seem to phase them at all.

The day started off at the Charles Hotel. Lynn had this beautiful bouquet and that brooch was her grandmother's...I thought it was such a nice touch:)

Um...have I mentioned before that I love a first look? If you are having a late fall or winter wedding you will be facing dark conditions after the ceremony for your portrait hour and you probably were not imagining all of your formals shot inside with a flash. So all of my late fall/winter brides choose to do a first look (even outside—bless you Lynn for braving the cold in your strapless gown) and about half of my clients opt for a first look just to get all of the formals out of the way so that they can enjoy the day with their family, friends, and each other. I just love the anticipation in these two shots below:)

When we photographers want to try out something cool with our clients we always try it out with ourselves first to make sure it will work. So in the middle of the snow storm on Saturday's wedding, Angela stood out in the cold to help me test out the light and I got this amazing shot of her! Love Affair

I attended the Love Affair workshop this summer (yes folks...I know...SUMMER was a long time ago) in Atlanta. The workshop was amazing and is taught by four extremely talented women who all bring something a little different to the table. I learned so much from each of them and it is especially nice to be on the learning side of things (as opposed to the teaching side that I am usually on). Anyway, most of the women who attended the workshop were from the south but Angela and I were some of the only northerners and we joked about our northern-ness the whole week. We became fast friends and have kept in touch over email ever since. Well, Angela is coming down from Canada (♩♪Oh Canada♩♫—sorry, I had to do it Angela) later this week to shoot my final wedding of the season with me and I am psyched to have her come. She just blogged about her experience at Love Affair a couple of days ago—apparently we are on the same page with our remiss blogging—which reminded me that I really ought to finally blog pics of my amazing model too:)

So, one day of the workshop we got to travel around with small groups in downtown Atlanta photographing models and my group got the amazing Kayla! These photos were shot in July (yup...I said JULY) but I was so busy I never got around to blogging them. Kayla was amazing and willing to do just about anything for a great shot. Of course, it doesn't hurt that she is this beautiful either!

A lot of the shots I chose were serious, but I loved this one of her:)

Linds is one of my very best friends in the whole world. Really...we met freshman year of college and have been fairly inseparable ever since. I shot these waaaaayyyy back in October as headshots for her blog and new site but had to skip over blogging them because I was so crazy busy with weddings and portrait shoots at that time. Ani & Vicken :: Engaged

Ani & Vicken chose a chilly but beautiful fall day for their engagement session. It was a slightly cold outside and a little bit—okay a lot—windy, but these two really rocked out the whole session! Thanks for suffering through the cold and wind for these great shots:)

This is one of my favorite walking bridges in Boston.

The light, the color, the adorable couple, the sun in the perfect spot.

Ani laughs with her whole body and I just love it.

No, the wind was not coming in at 25 miles per hour right here...no, not AT ALL!

I saw the sun shining off of a building in the back and this little slice of light was a perfect spot for a few portraits and gorgeous flare.

This might be my favorite of the shoot.

I just really liked the pop of yellow.

Jackson :: 1-year session

Jackson is such an adorable little guy. I actually photographed him when he was only 2 months old, then I photographed his parents' wedding at the end of September, and now I got to photograph him again for his 1 year portraits. Really, he is too cute. We ran around outside and got some great shots even though he was mostly attached to his favorite blue car:)

Trish & Michael :: Married

Trish and Michael were my last wedding for the next month and a half or so. Trish actually found me through one of my students and I was so honored that Natalie was recommending me and that Trish liked my work that much:) Trish was so laid back—she booked me only weeks before her actual wedding date—and even though it called for torrential downpours on her wedding day she didn't bat an eye. We did get lots of rain, but we also got a good break when we could go outside to take photos of the two of them.

I hadn't met Trish until the day of her wedding and Natalie had never filled me in that she was this beautiful, so it was a nice surprise when I walked in to find this stunning woman:)

Liam :: 1-Year session :: Baby's First Year

This is the final installment of Liam's portrait sessions:( He is going to be one year in a couple of weeks and I have photographed his newborn session, 6-month session (well, 7-months actually), and now his one-year session. There is something very special about seeing a child grow up right before your camera lens. He has such great expressions and I loved being there when he cried and cried as an infant, when he laughed hysterically as a 7-month old, and this time he showed me he could walk. Seriously, the kid can walk already!!! Wow, I really do love those Baby's First Year packages:) Liam is also special to me because he is part of a whole family of people I adore—I first photographed Liam's auntie Stephanie's wedding, then his auntie Colleen's engagement session, and now his whole first year of life. I love those Carrigan girls!

Laura & Brian :: Engaged

I adore Laura. We met when we were both in our first year of teaching and were both part-time teachers and part-time permanent substitutes. We really had fun that whole year together and I knew from our conversations that she would be getting engaged soon. (Funny side-fact, Laura actually teaches at my old high school now). I also photographed Laura's brother's wedding last year—which was super fun—and so I was psyched when she called me for her wedding! Laura and Brian, you two were so great to photograph and I can't wait for your wedding next summer:)

Meg and I taught together in the same art department a couple of years ago. She was filling in for a colleague on maternity leave and we became fast friends. I miss her all the time but she is only teaching a few towns away from me:) Meghann is also the creator of my logo—which I still totally love—and now she has a new addition to take up all of her time:) Here is Meg, Frank, and Frankie!

Terri & Christiaan :: Married

Terri and Christiaan were married on one of those New England days that called for rain and even snow (yes snow in October). But we totally lucked out and got a fantastic day—albeit a bit cold when the sun went down—with beautiful foliage and gorgeous even light! This couple was so easy to photograph—all natural, completely comfortable, and loving in front of the camera. Gah, I really do love my job:)

Really, Terri had the most beautiful and natural laugh. This was in the limo just before the ceremony and I love it!

Yes yes I am still behind on blogging. What happens is that I have so many shoots each week and weekend that it keeps me from blogging and editing the ones before and then I fall behind:( Just so you know, I am still totally on time with my online galleries even though my blogging is slow. Kim & Adam :: Proposal

OMG this was so much fun!!! So Adam contacted me about a month ago and mentioned that his girlfriend stalks my blog and he was wondering if I would be willing to do a "proposal" shoot...um YEAH! He was planning on proposing on Boston College campus and so we set up a day and time to meet and scope locations and we chose a "rain spot" as well as a "no rain" spot. The weather called for rain and snow on his chosen date but he decided to go through with it anyway. I am so glad he did, it was a perfect set up. We got no rain or snow (although it was quite cold outside) and Kim had absolutely no idea it was happening! Simon and I tried to stay far away for as long as possible to minimize distraction. It was very very cool to be included in such a great moment with this couple. Gah, I love these photos:) Anyway, take a look for yourself!

Kristyn & Nick :: Engagement

I love Beacon Hill, it is one of my favorite parts of Boston! Kristyn and Nick think so too and so they had their engagement session there:) Kristyn had lots of neat spots that she wanted to visit and so we started inside at the Liberty Hotel and then walked through the streets of Beacon Hill. It was a very cold day and Kristyn and Nick laughed about how they weren't expecting to be wearing winter coats for their fall e-session, but hey, this is new england right!?! Anyway, here are a few photos:)

Julie and Andrea got the most beautiful day for their wedding—sunny, big puffy clouds, light breeze—and they had such a beautiful and emotional ceremony. Sometimes I am taken aback by wedding ceremonies and this was definitely one of those. These two women are beautiful inside and out and I felt so honored to share in their day with them. I love ALL of their photos so this is going to be a reallllllly long one folks! Hang tight!

Camille and Phil were married on one of those lightly rainy October days. They got married at Hammond Castle—which I totally love by the way if you're having a smaller event! They had a gorgeous ceremony and the reception space is very cool too because we were actually inside the castle:) I adore this family, I photographed Phil's sister's wedding last November and I was honored to share in another special day with this family! 2009 Holiday Cards and Deadlines

Yes, we have definitely come to that time of the year again. Many of my clients have started asking about holiday cards and so here is this year's new designs:) There are 9 new designs for 2009 and all are 5x7 flat cards designed with a front and back and additional wording can be added:) The cards are sold in packs of 25 and the prices are $60 for flat cards and $80 for folded cards. You can always order from last year's designs as well (but please specify this when ordering).

All card orders need to be in by December 4th to ensure delivery in time for mailing!

For your holiday cards, just email me with the design number of the card that you like and the photo number(s) from your Pictage gallery to get your order started:)

The Big Boulder

Every year there comes a time—and hopefully only one time during the season—where I feel constantly behind on everything in my life. I liken the feeling to running downhill in front of a large boulder that is eventually going to catch up to me and run me over. Now don't get me wrong, I love what I do and mostly it is just my own fault that everything catches up to me at once, but alas, I am behind—like WAAAYYYY behind—on blogging. Colleen & Dave :: Engaged

Colleen and Dave hired me ages ago for their 2010 wedding:) I actually photographed Colleen's sister's wedding back in 2008 and I love when I get to share in another special day with a family:) Anyway, we met up in Amesbury for a few portraits and then went to my favorite field to finish out the shoot. Thank you Colleen and Dave for dealing with my migraine-induced-aphasia and waiting for my headache to pass—you two are the best!

Amy and Michael had a beautiful day for their wedding and we actually shot all of their formals in record time (because the light was fading fast). I had so much fun photographing Jen, Jim, and James last week for their family portrait. I love when my clients hire me and say, "I really want to capture my child as they are at THIS moment in time" and that is exactly why Jen and Jim invited me out for an afternoon with them:) They let James run all around digging in the dirt, throwing grass, and rolling around all over the place. This was a very real photo shoot. Oh, and I was so tired after photographing James for the hour—how do you parents do it?!?! Crazy people! ;) Anyway, here is the sneak peek.

So I put up a quick sneak peek of Danielle and Charlie's wedding from last weekend as I as working on the full post and this is a real big post! I met Danielle and Charlie through a couple of my clients from last year and I was ecstatic when they chose me to photograph their wedding as well! Really, I adore this couple. So it did end up raining on their wedding day, but we got a break in the rain for their portraits and then the whole group went out with umbrellas in the rain for a few more portraits. (My friends always think it's weird when they see about 10 umbrellas in the back of the car and my only answer is "I am a wedding photographer.") I love when my clients are willing to brave the elements for some great shots...so here are a few from Danielle and Charlie's wedding day:)

Kim was so awesome to photograph. Again, I don't know how I got all the gorgeous seniors again this year, but I did:) Kim chose a perfect day for the weather, it was 70 degrees and gorgeous outside. We shot at the Glen Magna—which holds a special place in my heart because I got married there four years ago:) We had fun using all of the gorgeous property, and then we went to one of my favorite fields—because Kim wanted some tall grass—and we caught the perfect late afternoon light! Here's the sneak peek.

I couldn't decide between this one and the next, so I put them both up.

I just adore these two! Karen and Tommy were one of my very favorite engagement sessions from this year and I knew their wedding would not disappoint:) When I walked into the bridal suite at Searles Castle Karen was all smiles! My favorite bridal party shot of the night. We had like absolutely NO light for this photo (I think it was 7:25 or something and the sun set at 7:20). This was shot with no flash and I believe this is Jess's shot, because they are all looking at another camera (which I think is my shot that follows this one). I LOVE it because it feels like such a magazine style image to me with the crop, the laughter, the grain, the way they are all leaning in. Great moment!

In color, the same moment but they are looking at my camera. By the way, it started to pour literally 1 minute after we finished this shot. We were all lucky!

It had finally cooled down just a bit when we shot Steph's senior portraits. Seriously, for weeks my shoots had all been done in crazy hot weather. But we got a beautifully windy day for Steph's session and we even almost got chased out of an abandoned lot by some attack dogs (not really...I'll explain).

You're beautiful Steph.

This was right about when a guy came by and asked what we were doing. Really...girl with camera...other girl posing in front of said camera...what do you think I am doing? He then went on to tell us that we had to ask to take pictures (in the abandoned lot that we were standing in, oh, by a pile of tires no less) and said that he had attack dogs. No, not like he was going to send them out on us, but like we should ask first so they didn't come after us. Attack dogs, in an empty lot...right. However, he never asked us to leave and so we kept taking photos.

I love the feel of this one.

Casey and I met up on one of those very weird August days where it pours rain outside, then the sun comes out, then it pours again. Well, thanks to my awesome luck (or maybe it was Casey's) we got awesome weather where the sun would poke out for a few shots and then hide behind the bright clouds again. It has been so warm for all of my shoots lately that I always look like a hot mess when I get done photographing while my clients are all dewy and beautiful. Ugh, I never had that luck:( Anyway, Casey you were amazing to photograph, so comfortable in front of the camera and—as if I even need to mention—stunning!

Lynn and Rob were such a great couple to photograph. We actually met for the first time at their engagement session and I love seeing for the first time with my camera how a couple interacts:) It was hot, hot, hot when we shot these (really people—it was 90-something degrees and huuuuuummmmmid all of last week and I had sessions EVERY day)! Seriously with the weather lately!

We started off a bit serious.

This is one of my very favorites of the day. This was just them—with no direction from me—and I love how it came out.

Emily and I met last week for her senior portraits and caught the most beautiful late afternoon light. Sometimes you just get lucky and this day gave me some of the best light that I have seen in a while:) Of course, Emily told me that i ALWAYS find the good light, so that challenged me to make sure that I did! Emily is adorable—outgoing, fun, down to earth, and very, very real. We enjoyed chatting all afternoon. Anyway, here is her sneak peek:)

Shannon and I met up on THE HOTTEST day EVER for a shoot. It was 95 degrees outside but Shannon looked amazing the whole time (I, on the other hand, looked like I had been dragged through the mud). The weather called for thunderstorms but held off until after our photo session, and we got perfect sunny skies for the portraits (yay)! Sally & Michael had about 30 of their closest family and friends witness their ceremony in a private historical home that they rented in Saco, Maine. Then all of the guests joined them for a great dinner in Ogunquit. It was a perfect day and I was honored to share in it with them. Anyway, enough of my rambling—here are the pics!

Jenn & Paul were married last Saturday on a gorgeous sunny day. Jenn and Paul have known each other since high school and have such a great connection:) I love the way they laugh together and smile at each other. Courtney was the picture of cool on her wedding day. I walked in, she hugged me and went on checking in on everyone in the house. There were so many people in this house it stressed me out—but not Courtney. She waited until the last second to put her dress on and went downstairs to stand with her dad before being walked across the street to the church. Honestly, the picture of cool and collected.

Courtney and Jeff got the most beautiful and warm July day. Considering all the rain (before and after their wedding day) I was so happy that they got this gorgeous day. Courtney and Jeff also built in plenty of time (a couple of hours) between their ceremony and reception for photos—oh how I love my clients:) The bridal party rocked, the day was beautiful, the locations were fun...I'll let the photos tell the story though!

Karen & Tommy :: Engaged

Alright, so this engagement shoot was about 9 months in the making. No seriously, we originally planned on an early October shoot!!! After the first reschedule there were sick cancellations, weather cancellations, stress cancellations, and more rain cancellations. Seriously, between the three of us we could NOT find a good day. But then, oh but then...we found a gorgeous, perfect, beautiful summer evening and the 9 month wait just made these photos that much better!

I honestly love my job and I especially love when my clients actually make my day better, just by being themselves! I'll be honest here blog-world, I really didn't want to go out for this shoot (hey, I'm only human)—but my hesitance was not because of Karen and Tommy at all, but just because I was tired and cranky—but when I arrived and started shooting I had so much fun. By the time I got back in my car to go home I was psyched and singing as loud as I could to the radio as I drove with all the windows rolled down in my car. Really...Karen and Tommy can make me THAT kind of happy:) I adore you two and I can't wait to photograph your wedding next month!

I took them to an old abandoned arcade with a great field of—shall we say "stuff"—in the back. You'll notice that I played around with my post-processing here...just trying something new and this shoot seemed perfect for it!

Lindsay and Adam met me through Adam's sister and hired me for their Long Island wedding next June. I loved being around these two—they laughed the WHOLE time, which I adore! We met in Newburyport where they just bought their first house—yes, I'm jealous;)—and shot down at the boatyard, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite shooting spots!

Marta & Greg were married this past Saturday at the beautiful Barn at Gibbet Hill. They had an outdoor ceremony and a gorgeous day for their wedding (for those of you who are from New England you know that gorgeous days—hey, even cloudy days with no rain—are hard to come by this summer)! I adore this couple—they look at each other as if no one is watching them and I love that!!! Greg and I actually went to high school together but it was Marta who found me, so it took me and Greg a few minutes to realize the connection. You'd think our high school was huge, but it wasn't...we're just slow;) Anyway, onto the photos—oh, and this is a long one folks!

I photographed Gayle and Greg's wedding in May of last year and I was delighted when they contacted me a couple of months ago to shoot their first family portrait! I adore this couple—they are fun, real, and full of life! One of the best parts of my job is that I get to see my clients go from a couple to a family. Oh, I love my job! Wow. Yup, that's the word I am going to use to begin this post...WOW! Courtney and Jeff had to reschedule their engagement session about 10 times (alright, not 10 but surely it was 3 times) because of rain. Surprised? No, we live in New England and something terrible is happening with the summer weather—someone has taken it from us:( Anyway, we did find a beautiful sunny summery evening and went to one of my favorite apple orchards for the shoot. Some of the photos look like a tropical setting I swear...so much fun! This couple is amazing and I think the the photos will tell the story:) Onto the beautiful Courtney & Jeff!

I met Maureen and Nick at Halibut Point state park on one of those really foggy days last week—which foggy day you might ask...they were all foggy. Oh how I love the warm weather! We waited and waited for a day like this—and after weeks of rain I really needed a great shoot and great couple like this:) Liz & Joel are amazing...in love. They smile at each other constantly, laugh with their whole selves, hold each other so naturally, and kiss like no one is watching them...it is all awesome to witness:) I enjoyed photographing these two so much and they were complete naturals in front of the camera. I hope you enjoy the pics!

Liz wanted to do the shoot in one of my favorite secret places. There is this amazing field in the middle of nowhere with a loooong crushed shell driveway. But here it looks more like a field here because it hasn't been mowed and the weeks of rain brought out tons of weeds and grass.

Deirdre called me and asked if I would be willing to photograph Liam's 7-month and one year pics. Willing???? Uh, gorgeous redheaded baby and adorable doting parents...um, I think my answer is yeah:) So here are the pics we shot down in Duxbury last week...so beautiful!

This one was a total accident—yes we photogs do have accidents, we just call them "happy" accidents;)—and I LOVE it. This might just be my fav from the session!

Whitney and Tim were married last weekend at the beautiful Okemo Resort in Vermont! They had a gorgeous weekend affair and we so enjoyed being able to share in it with them. I love Vermont weddings, and I especially love them when the weather cooperates. Guinness. Yes, it is indeed a really great beer, but it is also the name of my new puppy. Most of you know the story of my beloved Wilson and how we lost him a couple of months ago. Well, Simon and I had decided almost right away that we wanted another puppy. We loved our pup so much and wanted to put all of that energy toward loving a new puppy. So we found an awesome breeder out in western Massachusetts—seriously people, if anyone is looking for a chocolate lab this woman is over-the-top amazing—and got our new puppy about a week ago.

We have been waiting for him to become a bad puppy, but I have to tell you that he is the sweetest thing on the planet—nothing but love and kisses from this dog. His only fault is that he HATES to sleep in his crate at night (because he doesn't like to be alone), but he will happily sleep on the floor next to Simon (penned in of course). Without further ado, here is Guinness!

It's his namesake people...for goodness sake! And no, he didn't actually get any beer, lest the animal control comes knocking at my door.

Sarah & Corey...where do I even begin?!?! I had so much fun at this wedding! They held their ceremony and reception at the gorgeous Mansion on Turner Hill and the weather called for rain all day, but we didn't see a drop of it! Sarah and Corey are both awesome singers and they each sang to each other during their reception. Just for the record, they were both crazy good. Corey sang Stevie Wonder's "For Once In My Life" to Sarah.

Sarah sang Aretha Franklin's "Respect" and she rocked!

I am headed to NYC this weekend for a friend's b-day bash. It's a surprise that I am coming—I can say that on my blog because she never checks it...maybe this will be an incentive to check from now on, haha;) Anyway, I have AWESOME shots to show you from Sarah and Corey's radtastic wedding this past weekend but won't be able to get them up until next week. Yeah, so I kind of love city engagement shoots. I lived in the city for many years and it is nice to get out of the sticks and actually shoot somewhere else sometimes! (I also loved that Simon and I got to go out to one of our very favorite tapas bars after the shoot for some awesome food and sangria while people watching on Newbury Street.) Anyway, here are a few images of the adorable couple, Roselyn and Carlos. These two have such a wonderful connection: quiet, unassuming, beautiful! I loved walking around with them and finding little nooks and cranny's along Beacon Hill's adorable little streets:)

Jenna and Dave were married on site at the Danversport Yacht Club and held their reception in the beautiful ballroom. No detail was overlooked thanks to the amazing wedding planning capabilities of Jenna's mom, Marie! Let me tell you, these folks know how to throw a party! With over 240 guests in attendance, a beautiful sunny day, lots of great food, an A Capella group that sang throughout the dinner, a photobooth...the list goes on and on. Xanthé is my sister Shawné's best friend. Seriously...can you imagine meeting these two out somwehere and they introduce themselves, "Hi, I'm Shawne and this is my best friend Xanthe." You really would think they were putting you on;) Anyway, It was so nice to photograph Xanthé and her boys last week! We had a gorgeous sunny day, and the boys were all about throwing sticks into the stream and walking down the looooonnnngggg driveway. Xanthé was intent on getting really natural and "in-the-moment" shots—I hope we succeeded:) I hope these are what you were looking for X!

Keri and Todd were my second wedding of the weekend (way to kick off my 2009 season). Seriously, I tell you all the time blogworld that I have the best clients...but really...I do! I absolutely adore these two and loved being a part of their wedding day! They were so much fun (well, Todd is a stand-up comedian after all), their families and bridal party were totally welcoming to me and Simon, and the guests were great dancers:) Love the start of my 2009 season and I can't wait to see what happens for the rest of the season!!!

Leah & Matt :: Engaged

Last week I was able to photograph Leah & Matt on a gorgeous sunny evening. It looks a whole lot warmer than it actually was though, because remember that it is April in New England. We did a beach shoot and they ended up with the most perfect light as a backdrop. Love this shoot—the laughter, the interaction, the buttery light....mmmmm:)

I love this one of the two of them...look at those smiles:)

We wanted to get a couple of traditional ones and so I love the background and lighting here.

Honestly, I'm not sure that these two could make a bad photo...I mean look at them!!! This is definitely one of my favorites from the shoot:)

I love Leah's smile here and how Matt's smile is the only part of him in focus. I, of course, totally meant to do that:)

Wilson's Final post

Wilson was probably the best puppy on the planet. Not only was he the cutest puppy—and he knew it...people would stop me on the street to tell me how beautiful my dog was—but he was also turning into a REALLY great dog. Unfortunately, last weekend Wilson decided to eat a corncob without telling mommy or daddy and by the time we realized he had done it, it was several days later and he was very sick. (We haven't even eaten corn yet this year so we're not sure where he found it.) See, a corncob is apparently the perfect size and texture to get caught in the intestines so that no food can pass through. He went into the animal hospital on Wednesday morning (tax day—now I have yet another reason to truly HATE tax day) and he died during surgery. He was too weak at that point to survive anaesthesia and the corncob had already wreaked havoc on his intestines. I am still a bit of a wreck (Simon is devastated), but I figured since all of you met Wilson on the blog that it would be appropriate to say goodbye to him on the blog as well. So here's to my amazing pup, who I will always love with all of my heart:)

Alright, I don't usually do large family shoots—it's just not my thing. But I absolutely adore Julie and her whole family and so I agreed to photograph their family portrait, which is a surprise gift for their grandmother! When you are getting close to thirty people together for a photo you can't really reschedule for rain and—of course—the chosen date called for nonstop rain ALL day. So...we found a spot that had large overhangs and decided to shoot it anyway. We did, however, get a break in the storm and were able to do some photos without getting rained on. I just figured I would give you a peek of what 28 people in a group portrait looks like:)

Cruising with the Fam

We had a vacation last week with my entire family...10 of us...ages 4 to 83. Kinda crazy! We went on a cruise to the western Caribbean hitting Mexico, Grand Cayman, and Jamaica. Anyway, here are a few photos from the trip.

Wilson's post

This is where my puppy sits while I work at my computer. I just started letting him come in the office this week (after I moved all of the chewable albums to a higher place) and he has been really good! Remember that Wilson is only 4 months old and he lets me work for half hour to hour increments with only an occasional chewing of the desk chair or my ankle:)

Wilson's post by the front door. We are having our basement fixed and the foundation re-pointed so he is excited to watch the masons work outside.

I love this one:) I wished I could have caught the leap that followed this run—the ankle biting, on the other hand, I could have gone without—he was very excited to get some directed attention!

Albums!

I love when albums come in the mail! I can't even tell you how excited I get to open the boxes and look at the albums—I think I might even squeal out loud (yes, my UPS delivery man is used to it). When we were away last week TWO sample albums came in the mail and then two client albums arrived on my doorstep today:) Oh so exciting! Anyway, here are a few images to show you some different options and some beautiful spreads by my talented album designers. Let's start with some client albums.

This is a new sample album that I ordered of Lauren & Patrick's album design. I love the rustic leather and the inset image that is actually a metallic inset (which didn't photograph as beautiful as it is in person)—GORGEOUS!

The inset goes all the way to the edge of the album and is flat with the height of the leather.

Noelle & Colin | Engagement

Noelle and Colin met up with me on a very cold day in Newburyport. We tried the boatyard but the wind was killing us down there so we went up into town to try and get some shots between the buildings (thus hiding from the wind). These two have a great connection and they kept each other warm—wink, wink—the entire time:) Noelle & Colin grew up around here but now live down in balmy North Carolina...it was 60 degrees down there the day they flew up here! Noelle and Colin, thanks for being such troopers and totally having some fun in the snow and cold with me:)

We were behind a building and people kept coming out of the restaurant to take out trash and thinking we were nuts—hey, I'm used to that! I just love backgrounds like this.

Norah Loretta was only 1 week old when we did this shoot. It was a beautiful winter day and the light pouring into Marianne's home was gorgeous. Norah stayed up the entire session but I may have helped her sleep through the night;) Marianne and I have known each other our entire lives—our mom's met in carpool for our older siblings—and so it was awesome to see Marianne become a mom. I knew she would be a great mom because she has always had an interest in little ones and even runs her own daycare in her home in Amesbury. If anyone is looking for a fantastic child care provider be sure to contact her—she is accepting new kids in a couple of months. I photographed Marianne and Mat's wedding (long before blogging so I don't have a blog post of it) and it was great to also photograph this new milestone in their lives:) Congratulations to the both of you!

3 weeks of Wilson

So we got Wilson when he was only 7 weeks old and he was adorable! Then came Christmas with the fam(s) and New Year's in Maine. Then I was getting back into the swing of things and so I realized that you have seen only one measly pic of my puppy. He is the reason that me emails are slower and my blogs are almost non-existent. It's not a lack of work (in fact I have another newborn shoot to blog soon) but a lack of time because he requires alllll of my attention. So anyway, here are the last few weeks of Wilson:)

Emma Christine was born on December 30, 2008 and she is a very special addition to my family...she is my newest niece! Anyway, she was only about 6 days old when we did this session and she was a little irritated with me but I still got a few good shots in:)

Hello there blog world and happy new year! I apologize for the lack of blogging lately...I took some much deserved time off and enjoyed the holidays with my family. Oh, and my puppy takes up waaaaaayyyyy more time than I anticipated—he is so awesome though:) Anyway, I have launched a new site (which also took up most of my time for the last week or so) so take a look when you have the chance. I also have added a portrait site in addition to my wedding site. Let me know what you think!

Puppies, Broken Computers, Christmas Trees, & Snow

Well, that pretty much sums up my last week. Yes, I got a puppy (and he is soooooooooo cute), my computer broke (and don't worry, all of your photos are safe), my Christmas tree went up last weekend, and it has been snowing for the last 48 hours. It has been a bit busy around here and I have totally neglected the blog—although in all fairness this week I couldn't really do much because of the computer. I am currently working on my husband's laptop and it is ridiculously slow and hard to process an image on. So my computer is fixed now...oh how I love the apple store, they have been so good to me and I will get it back tomorrow hopefully:) I'll leave you with a couple of photos of Wilson, our new chocolate lab pup, and you'll see why I have been so busy.
